UBS Foreign Exchange wins Profit and Loss awards Last Thursday, Profit & Loss Magazine held their annual Digital FX Awards dinner and UBS picked up several awards to add to its collection of FX achievements. Selected as the winner of 'Best Overall in e-FX' for the third year running, UBS was also awarded: - Best Online Research According to the magazine, "If this was soccer's World Cup, the trophy would be awarded permanently, because for the third year in succession the winner is UBS. Many expected - or hoped - that the bank would rest on its laurels - no chance. The UBS platform remains the best in the market through the bank's commitment to embedding e-commerce in all aspects of its FX business and its understanding of clients' issues. In our opinion it is the 'Varsity' and offers an excellent example of how to deploy e-commerce within an FX business". Ian Keates, Head of Channel Management, commented, "We continue
to push very hard to deliver scalable, supportable and stable solutions,
which meet our clients' needs. UBS named No.1 in II's inaugural Emerging EMEA Research
Team survey UBS has been named the top-rated equity research firm in Emerging Markets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa in Institutional Investor magazine’s inaugural Emerging EMEA Research Team survey. UBS registered 10 total team positions, while ING Financial Markets finished second with seven positions, and Merrill Lynch took third place with six team positions. UBS was also named the top-rated firm for EMEA sales, with Deutsche Bank second and Merrill Lynch third. This year, for the first time, Institutional Investor is presenting these Emerging Market results independently of its All-Europe Research Team, which was published in the February International edition. Tutu Agyare, Head of Emerging Markets, commented, "We are delighted that our clients have recognised our efforts to provide them with a quality research product. For UBS's Emerging European Research Team this is an outstanding result and acknowledges the importance of Emerging European Research as a category in its own right". Overall, this means that UBS is clearly the leading overall firm for research in Europe. Aggregating the results of the European sector/macro results and today's EMEA results UBS would have scored a total of 40 ranked research teams, eight teams ahead of Merrill Lynch in second place and SB Citigroup in third place. This is the largest lead in the Poll in the past five years and the third year running UBS has been ranked No.1. UBS is also the leading firm in sales in Europe, having been top ranked in both European and EMEA sales for the second year running. Euroweek names UBS No.1 US Equity Bookrunner for 2003 The Equity Markets Poll 2003, part of The EuroWeek Awards 2003 published recently, has named UBS the Best US Equity Bookrunner of 2003. This result, which is compiled through a comprehensive survey of market opinion, both our peers and investors, reflects the huge progress we have made in the US market. UBS was also named Best Asia-Pacific Equity Bookrunner. Mark Connelly and Tom Fox, Co-Heads US Equity Capital Markets, commented, "The award recognizes the extraordinary progress the firm has made in the US over the past three years culminating in the fourth quarter when the firm achieved a No.1 ranking in equity underwriting fees, while bookrunning the largest transactions across all common equity products. These included the largest IPO, US$531m for International Steel Group, the largest follow-on offering, US$1.1bn for Newmont Mining and the largest concurrent offering (equity plus mandatory equity convertibles), US$721m for Interpublic Group. The new year has gotten off to a fast start, and we're equally excited about the firm's prospects in 2004
