UBS Japan wins government approval for its support for growth of future generations

All three of UBS’s Japanese entities have received recognition as “Qualified Employer Supporting Future Generations” from the Tokyo Labor Bureau's recognition as a "Qualified Employer Supporting Future Generations ".

Coming on the heels of two best employer awards from the independent global human resources company Hewitt Associates, this latest accolade further underscores UBS's commitment to its employees and to Japan.

UBS is the only foreign financial group to receive this qualification according to a list published by the Tokyo Labor Bureau.

UBS wins Asiamoney award four years running

UBS has been voted by clients in the Asia-Pacific as the Best Equity-linked Derivatives House in Asiamoney's Structured Products Poll for the fourth consecutive year.
Asiamoney's fourth annual Structured Products Poll collated the thoughts of senior finance and treasury executives involved in Asia-Pacific structured product transactions. Responses from 535 different institutions were received, up 23% on the previous year.

UBS accelerates up the ranks in Financial News trading poll

UBS has outpaced all competition in the direct execution space, according to a recent Financial News poll of 100 buyside institutions, who represent US$4.6tr in managed equities globally. Responses were weighted according to assets under management.

Having achieved the second-highest scores in algorithmic trading as rated by buyside dealers this year, UBS was the only financial services firm to significantly improve on last year's fourth place ranking, notching 115 points compared to 67 last year.

UBS a Founding Financial Partner in new Clinton Climate Initiative program


This week, UBS announced its involvement as a Founding Financial Partner in the Energy Building Retrofit Program, a new landmark program launched by the Clinton Foundation's Climate Initiative (CCI), founded in 2006 by former US president Bill Clinton.

Under this program, a select group of large city governments from around the world, including London, Paris, New York and Shanghai, will retrofit municipal and other public buildings as well as provide incentives to large private building owners to make their buildings more energy efficient.

Innovative solutions bring success for UBS in Risk survey

UBS's Equity Risk Management team has again shone in Risk magazine's Corporate End-User Survey 2007. For the third consecutive year, UBS topped the equity derivatives products category, with corporate clients rating the firm No.1 for Equity Derivatives Overall, and No.1 for both Equity Index Options and Single Stock Options.

New venture in corporate aircraft financing takes flight

A new company called Guggenheim Aero Finance Company (GaFco) was formed through a venture between Guggenheim Partners and UBS Real Estate Securities Inc.

GaFco will provide innovative financing solutions worldwide for qualified corporations and individuals purchasing new and pre-owned corporate jets.

UBS Pactual launches cash trading operations in Mexico

On Wednesday, 2 May, UBS Pactual successfully launched cash trading operations in Mexico, further expanding our presence in the fast-growing Latin American markets.

The firm is now able to offer cash, foreign-exchange and debt products locally to Mexican investors, including both institutional and corporate clients. The local banking license in Mexico enables the firm to target pension funds in the country, a client base currently restricted to foreign banks.

UBS's partnership with Tate Modern in London is one year old this month – and the anniversary is being marked with the launch of UBS Openings: Drawings, a new display of works from The UBS Art Collection.

Featuring works by important artists such as David Hockney, Lucian Freud and Roy Lichtenstein, UBS Openings: Drawings is the second of three six-monthly displays showcasing UBS-owned pieces.

UBS - the one to watch in Euromoney's annual foreign exchange poll

UBS recorded another strong performance in Euromoney's annual FX poll, retaining No.2 position and making the largest market share increase - from 11.86% to 14.85% - among the firm's listed in the top 20.

The firm also received top accolades with institutional investors and banks, ranking No.1 in terms of market share. It was also ranked No.1 by market share with clients in Central and Eastern Europe.

UBS is named as one of the ‘Best Workplaces in the UK and in Europe’

On Wednesday, the Financial Times announced that UBS is one of the '50 Best Workplaces in the UK' and one of the '100 Best Workplaces in Europe'.

More than 1,000 firms - out of the 34,665 companies with more than 50 employees in the UK - took part in the survey conducted by the Great Place to Work Institute UK.

UBS excels at 2007 TradeTech Summit

UBS had cause to celebrate last week, when it received two major awards at the 2007 TradeTech Summit in Paris, in recognition of the firm's contributions to the Equities buy and sell side in Europe.

The firm was awarded ‘Best Alternative Execution Service' for its direct execution service and ‘Best Compliance Initiative 2007' for its work associated with Commission Sharing Agreements (CSAs).
