Launch of latest web software puts UBS ahead of the rest

The Investment Bank has just begun offering Really Simple Syndication (RSS) to investors, delivering near real-time feeds of UBS research content direct to clients' desktops. UBS is believed to be the first broker to offer this cutting-edge technology to its clients.

UBS goes from strength to strength in M&A

UBS has seen a boost in both its market share and its volume for M&A deals across the globe.

According to Thomson Financial's league tables for the nine months to 30 September, the firm has moved up three places to fourth position for worldwide announced M&A deals, compared with the same period last year. The firm was involved in 228 deals worth a total of US$392bn, representing a market share of 20.8% and a 140.6% increase in volume.

The league table also shows that UBS has moved into the top spot for worldwide announced M&A deals - ECM roles, with a market share of 45.5%.

The firm's sector expertise has also been pushed it up the league tables, according to figures announced this week. The value of pharmaceutical deals conducted so far this year by UBS has put the firm among the top three financial advisors in the sector, according to an industry ranking by Thomson Financial. Since January 2005 UBS conducted deals worth US$11.5bn.

The ranking showed an industry total value of pharma deals for the top 25 financial advisors of US$47bn from 391 deals.

In addition, the achievements of UBS's European M&A team team have been recognized by Financial News, which has named the team head, Piero Novelli as banker of the quarter.

In total, UBS's European M&A team have advised on 39 deals worth a combined US$131bn in the third quarter of this year, according to Mergermarket.
